Backyard gardening project is sweeping throughout municipal police stations in Bataan. Spearheaded by Bataan Police Director P/Col. Romell Velasco, the project dubbed “Reproduction of Agri-Vegetables” is in consonance with the wish of Bataan Gov. Joet Garcia for the members of police force to eat nutritious foods.
The governor, in his speech during the last police community relations anniversary at Camp Tolentino prodded the PNP to maintain a vegetable garden in vacant lots and plant them with vegetables, or even fruits. “Instead of buying processed foods somewhere, you can just pick fresh vegetables in your garden,” Gov. Garcia told the local PNP.
Col. Velasco said the project aims to give “our men and women in the service a chance to plant, maintain and consume nutritious foods right from the garden in our backyard.”
“We have to utilize our vacant lots within the camp for a productive endeavor,” Velasco added.
